Results published today by the Canadian General Freight Index (CGFI) indicate that the Total Cost of ground transportation for Canadian Shippers decreased by 0.6% in April, as compared with March results.
The Base Rate Index which excludes the impact of Accessorial Charges assessed by carriers was flat from March.
Average Fuel Surcharges assessed by Carriers increased this month. Fuel was 10.88% of Base Rates in April versus 10.32% in March.
“Overall, Total Freight Costs declined marginally in April,” said Doug Payne, President & COO, Nulogx. ”Domestic Truckload and LTL were positive however the Cross Border Truckload and LTL showed a strong decrease. Year over Year, all segments (Domestic Truckload & LTL and Cross Border Truckload & LTL) are all below last year’s costs with Transborder being significantly lower,” continued Payne.
