The Base Rate Index, which excludes the impact of Accessorial Charges assessed by carriers, increased by 1.17% in January. Average Fuel Surcharges assessed by Carriers increased slightly in January. Fuel was 21.42% of Base Rates in January versus 21.34% in December.

"Total Freight Costs rose by 2.62%, which is the largest month-to-month change in the past 2 years. The increase was led by Domestic Truckload, though all segments increased this month. Base Freight costs were up by 1.17%. Overall, year over year Total Freight Costs (Domestic LTL and Domestic Truckload, Cross Border LTL & Cross Border Truckload) are well above last years level," said Doug Payne, President & COO, Nulogx.

The Base Rate Index, which excludes the impact of Accessorial Charges assessed by carriers, decreased by 0.9% in November. Average Fuel Surcharges assessed by Carriers continue to increase. Fuel was 21.81% of Base Rates in November versus 19.54% in October. Fuel has risen each month since October 2020 when fuel surcharge was 10.91%.

"Total Freight Costs increased by 0.49% driven by increased fuel and Cross Border LTL. All segments increased this month except for Cross Border Truckload which had a slight decrease. Base Freight costs decreased by 0.9%.
