Results published today by the Canadian General Freight Index (CGFI) indicate that the Total Cost of ground transportation for Canadian Shippers slipped by 0.4 % in April when compared with March results.
The Base Rate Index, which excludes the impact of Accessorial Charges assessed by carriers, decreased by 0.3% when compared to March 2014.
Average Fuel Surcharges assessed by Carriers dipped this month. Fuel was 21.45 % of Base Rates in April versus 22.57 % in March.
“Cross border Truckload increased marginally offset by decreases in Domestic Truckload, Domestic LTL and Cross Border LTL.” said Doug Payne, President & COO, Nulogx. “Total costs of freight are 3.7% above last year at this time”, continued Payne.
