Results published today by the Canadian General Freight Index (CGFI) indicate that the Total Cost of ground transportation for Canadian Shippers slipped by 1.2 % in May when compared with April results.
The Base Rate Index, which excludes the impact of Accessorial Charges assessed by carriers, decreased by 1.0% when compared to April 2014.
Average Fuel Surcharges assessed by Carriers dipped this month. Fuel was 21.37 % of Base Rates in May versus 21.45 %in April.
“Domestic and Cross Border Truckload costs decreased, partially offset by increases in Domestic LTL and Cross Border LTL.” said Doug Payne, President & COO, Nulogx. “Total costs of freight are 5.3 % above last year at this time”, continued Payne.
