Results published today by the Canadian General Freight Index (CGFI) indicate that the Total Cost of ground transportation for Canadian Shippers slipped by 1.8 % in June when compared with May results.
The Base Rate Index, which excludes the impact of Accessorial Charges assessed by carriers, decreased by 1.4% when compared to May 2014.
Average Fuel Surcharges assessed by Carriers increased this month. Fuel was 21.57 % of Base Rates in June versus 21.37 %in May.
“The decline from March to June of this year follows the same pattern as March to June of 2013 however this year the decline is not as steep.” said Doug Payne, President & COO, Nulogx. “Total costs of freight are 6.1 % above last year at this time”, continued Payne.
