Results published today by the Canadian General Freight Index (CGFI) indicate that the Total Cost of ground transportation for Canadian Shippers decreased by 0.6% in July when compared with June results.
The Base Rate Index, which excludes the impact of Accessorial Charges assessed by carriers, increased 0.4% when compared to June.
Average Fuel Surcharges assessed by Carriers decreased this month. Fuel was 14.88% of Base Rates in July versus 15.66% in June.
“Cross Border LTL and Truckload had small increases this month. Once again, these were mostly offset by decreases in the Domestic Truckload costs, with a slight decrease in the Domestic LTL freight costs,” said Doug Payne, President & COO, Nulogx. “Cross Border Truckload and LTL and Domestic Truckload are above a year ago while the Domestic LTL freight costs are below a year ago,” continued Payne.
