Results published today by the Canadian General Freight Index (CGFI) indicate that the Total Cost of ground transportation for Canadian Shippers decreased marginally by 0.2% in February when compared with January results.
The Base Rate Index, which excludes the impact of Accessorial Charges assessed by carriers, remained flat when compared to January.
Average Fuel Surcharges assessed by Carriers decreased this month. Fuel was 10.54% of Base Rates in February versus 12.09% in January.
“Overall, Total Freight Costs decreased marginally, which was reflective of the drop in fuel costs. Domestic Truckload showed a strong increase while the other sectors saw decreases, in particular Transborder LTL,” said Doug Payne, President & COO, Nulogx. “Year over Year, Cross Border LTL remains in positive territory, while Cross Border Truckload and LTL and Domestic LTL are negative,” continued Payne.
