Canadian General Freight IndexResults published today by the Canadian General Freight Index (CGFI) indicate that the cost of ground transportation for Canadian Shippers decreased 2.3% in April when compared with March results.
The Base Rate Index, which excludes the impact of Accessorial Charges assessed by carriers, decreased by 2.0% when compared to March 2012.
Average Fuel Surcharges assessed by Carriers have seen an increase from 21.9 % of Base Rates in March 2012 to 22.4% in April 2012.
“We are experiencing a downward trend in both base rates and accessorials, while fuel is seeing increases for the 3rd consecutive month.” said Doug Payne, President  & COO, Nulogx. “It appears that both the domestic and cross border Truckload markets are seeing the most change as a result of these trends. ” continued Payne.
