CGFIResults published today by the Canadian General Freight Index (CGFI) indicate that the Total Cost of ground transportation for Canadian Shippers increased by 1.6 % in December when compared with November results.
The Base Rate Index, which excludes the impact of Accessorial Charges assessed by carriers, increased by 0.27 % when compared to November2013.
Average Fuel Surcharges assessed by Carriers decreased. Fuel was 20.84 % of Base Rates in December versus 20.54 % in November.
“Total Freight Costs continue to climb in December for the 5th straight month. Both Base and rates and fuel increased in December.” said Doug Payne, President & COO, Nulogx. “With December’s, increase Total Transportation Costs finished 1.0 % above a year ago.” continued Payne.
