Results published today by the Canadian General Freight Index (CGFI) indicate that the Total Cost of ground transportation for Canadian Shippers dropped by 0.97 % in August when compared with July results.
The Base Rate Index, which excludes the impact of Accessorial Charges assessed by carriers, decreased by 0.91 % when compared to July 2014.
Average Fuel Surcharges assessed by Carriers decreased this month. Fuel was 21.48 % of Base Rates in August versus 21.59 % in July.
“Cross border Truckload was the only sector that saw an increase.” said Doug Payne, President  & COO, Nulogx. “Overall, rates started to increase in August 2013, and continued to rise until March of this year. Since that time, there has been a steady decrease.” continued Payne.
