Results published today by the Canadian General Freight Index (CGFI) indicate that the Total Cost of ground transportation for Canadian Shippers increased by 1.2 % in October when compared with September results.
The Base Rate Index, which excludes the impact of Accessorial Charges assessed by carriers, Increased by 1.4 % when compared to September 2014.
Average Fuel Surcharges assessed by Carriers decreased this month. Fuel was 19.35 % of Base Rates in October versus 20.75 % in September.
“Despite the decrease in Fuel Costs, there was still an increase in total freight costs.” said Doug Payne, President & COO, Nulogx. “This increase was driven by Truckload costs, as the 4 month rolling average of LTL costs showed a slight decrease.” continued Payne.
