Results published today by the Canadian General Freight Index (CGFI) indicate that the Total Cost of ground transportation for Canadian Shippers increased by 2.6 % in March when compared with February results.
The Base Rate Index, which excludes the impact of Accessorial Charges assessed by carriers, Increased by 2.7 % when compared to February.
Average Fuel Surcharges assessed by Carriers increased this month. Fuel was 17.02 % of Base Rates in March versus 16.02 % in February.
“LTL Total Freight Costs appear to be stabilizing with a small decrease in Domestic LTL and a slight increase in Cross border LTL.” said Doug Payne, President & COO, Nulogx.”Domestic Truckload has seen 6 straight months of increases while Cross Border Truckload has now seen 8 straight months of increases. ” continued Payne.
