Results published today by the Canadian General Freight Index (CGFI) indicate that the Total Cost of ground transportation for Canadian Shippers increased by 2.2% in December, as compared with November results.
The Base Rate Index, which excludes the impact of Accessorial Charges assessed by carriers, increased by 0.7% in December.
Average Fuel Surcharges assessed by Carriers increased this month.  Fuel was 17.26% of Base Rates in December versus 15.71% in November.
“Total Freight & Base Costs increased in December,” said Doug Payne, President & COO, Nulogx. ”All segments of the index increased. Year over year, Domestic LTL, Domestic Truckload and Cross Border Truckload are higher while Cross Border LTL costs are well below last year,” continued Payne.
