Results published today by the Canadian General Freight Index (CGFI) indicate that the Total Cost of ground transportation for Canadian Shippers increased by 1.02% in June, as compared with May results.
The Base Rate Index, which excludes the impact of Accessorial Charges assessed by carriers, increased by 1.10% in June.
Average Fuel Surcharges assessed by Carriers increased this month. Fuel was 16.61% of Base Rates in June versus 16.27% in May.
“Total Freight Costs increased by 1.02% in all segments. Base Freight costs increased by 1.10%,” said Doug Payne, President & COO, Nulogx. “Year over year, all segments (Domestic LTL and Domestic Truckload, Cross Border LTL & Cross Border Truckload) are above last year levels, with overall index up by 5.53% over June 2020,” continued Payne.
