Results published today by the Canadian General Freight Index (CGFI) indicate that the Total Cost of ground transportation for Canadian Shippers decreased by 0.04% in October, as compared with September.
The Base Rate Index, which excludes the impact of Accessorial Charges assessed by carriers, decreased by 0.72% in October. Average Fuel Surcharges assessed by Carriers continue to increase. Fuel was 19.54% of Base Rates in October versus 18.05% in September.
“Total Freight Costs decreased by 0.04% driven by Domestic Truckload, offsetting the increase in Cross Border LTL. Domestic LTL & Cross Border Truckload increased marginally. Base Freight costs decreased by 0.72%. Overall, year over year Total Freight Costs (Domestic LTL and Domestic Truckload, Cross Border LTL & Cross Border Truckload) are above last years level,” said Doug Payne, President & COO, Nulogx.
