Results published today by the Canadian General Freight Index (CGFI) indicate that the Total Cost of ground transportation for Canadian Shippers decreased by 1.6% in December when compared with November results.
The Base Rate Index, which excludes the impact of Accessorial Charges assessed by carriers, decreased 1.5% when compared to November.
Average Fuel Surcharges assessed by Carriers increased marginally this month. Fuel was 13.03% of Base Rates in December versus 12.94% in November.
“Overall, Total Freight Costs continue to slide,” said Doug Payne, President & COO, Nulogx.”Domestic LTL & Truckload and Cross Border Truckload declined while Cross Border LTL Increased. Year over year, Domestic LTL and Truckload closed in negative territory, while Cross Border Truckload and LTL are up year over year,” continued Payne.
